Inspired by the traditional geisha footwear, with a high platform and thick ropes holding the feet, Yohji Yamamoto, in collaboration with the sportwear house Adidas (before the landing of Y-3) revisited this traditional pair in a more technical and modern way.
Instead of the wooden sole, These sandals have a thick but light platform with a slight glossy finish and show the three iconic stripes, quite discreetly, on the front and back in a vibrant red color, as well as his signature on the sides. The sole's curved shape provides more comfort. Two thick padded strings, covered in a kind of suede fabric, are firmly holding the foot.
Two versions of this pair were presented on the runway, and worn with every kind of clothing from jeans skirts and pastel mesh tops to black tailored suits and dramatic dresses.
